It sounds like Weld was trying to characterize Johnson as the best alternative to Trump, rather than indirectly endorse Clinton.

This is a soft endorsement how? All I'm reading is more of the stuff this campaign has been saying since winning the nomination.

Jesse Helms could not have been more right about Weld.

The Earth is a better place without Jesse Helms on it.

Yes it is, because he devoted his life to providing excellent constituent service (even Democrats admit this) and was a courageous leader in the conservative movement. He improved the world and then left to meet his creator.

Only if you were white, I'm sure.

This ticket would have been so much better with Weld at the top.

This. I have no idea why he would take second fiddle to Johnson unless he just couldn't get the L endorsement without him. I would've voted for Weld in a heartbeat.

Sounds like you just want a Republican ticket with Weld at the top.

This ticket would have been so much better with Weld at the top.

So he could drop out (like he did in 2006 in NY) and endorse Hillary?

Perhaps Weld is angling for a cabinet position in a Clinton administration.

He would do well whatever post he held.

Clinton would be wise to have a Republican and a Libertarian, i.e. Weld, in her cabinet.

I would not be surprised at all if Clinton did appoint a Republican to cabinet.
