In 2008 - 5
Alaska, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina (thur), Missouri (nov 19th)  plus NE cd.

In 2004 - 14
Oregon, Montana, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Alaska, Hawaii, Minnesota, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Iowa, New Hampshire and Wisconsin plus ME-2

in 2016
We can add definitely Alaska because polls close at midnight and unless it's clear it doesn't get called till 01.00am

Alaska certainly.  For President, I think Georgia will go down to the wire, and it might well take until midnight.  Texas, Iowa, Arizona, and Utah are other possibilities.

In the Senate, possibly NC and MO.

Midnight on the east coast?

Alaska, definitely. Probably Ohio, Iowa, ME-2, Arizona, Georgia, Utah, and if I'm being optimistic, Texas.

Florida
North Carolina
Ohio
Iowa
Arizona
Nevada
Alaska
Colorado

With the exception of NV and AK, Hillary will need one of these to be called for her before she can declare victory.  I think that call (FL, NC, or CO) will come some time between midnight and 2 AM.  Trump won't concede that night, and will take to Twitter to condemn Clinton for making her "premature" victory speech.

No deciding state will be close enough for a recount, but Trump will demand one in several states anyway.

When will Oregon complete its mail-in ballot count?
