Of course Kirk's comment was uncalled for. That being said, I can hardly endorse Duckworth with all the ethics questions surrounding her treatment of veterans. That is far worse than this comment. I stand by my endorsement of Kirk.

I'm inclined to believe you, but why didn't someone in his family encourage him to retire? He has no business running for this seat again if that's the case.

Well, I don't disagree.  He shouldn't have run.  Problem is he wanted to run again and nobody was going to change his mind.  He's a good guy (or so I've been told), it's a shame that it will end this way.

Every time he says something out of line, it's blamed on the stroke. It's not the stroke, because he was racist before that. He claimed in 2010 that black neighborhoods would "jigger" the vote. It's not the stroke.

Yeah, he shouldn't get a pass on this because he had a stroke. Nobody forced him to run again. He's got a history of saying stuff like this, and it's a shame that ideological purity trolling on the Democratic side got this racist into Congress.
