Statute explicitly says three things about the timing of the runoff election:

1. It starts 12:00 AM on Friday morning
2. It lasts exactly 72 hours
3. It therefore normally ends 11:59 PM on Sunday night.

It's currently 4:46 AM, almost five hours after the booth is required to open, but it is still locked. I would be voting right now if I could, because I'll be very busy today and through pretty much the entire weekend.

I hereby petition the Court for emergency relief in the form of an injunction to mandate the polls will be open for a full 72 hours to ensure every Atlasian citizen has enough time to vote.

I don't hold anything against rpryor, as this is a harmless mistake. But just as is the case in the real world (and as has existed in atlasian precedent for years!) when a polling location opens late, it should stay open late for just as long, so that every voter still has a full chance to participate in democracy.

Thank you for your swift action.

Shouldn't this be on the Fantasy Gov't board? That is where they have been historically.

I didn't see any court cases on the last several pages of fantasy govt so I assumed y'all were putting cases on this board now and the larger post volume here was making them harder to find. Regardless, the increased visibility of a thread here can only help in making sure the court sees it quickly Smiley

That's because we haven't had any cases. Tongue

I messaged Windjammer and the other Justices almost simultaneous to Windjammer posting in here, so you got your wish. Wink

Presidential terms begin/end on the first Friday of the month following the election, so Leinad will  leave office (hopefully with a successor ready to take over) on November 4.
