People are only suggesting it because of Hillary. Had Jackie Kennedy run in 1968 then people would have talked about Pat Nixon and Betty Ford too.

It's annoying that every Presidential spouse or child is automatically thought to be likely to enter politics.

To be fair, Betty Ford probably could've gone far and probably would've had an excellent base to start with. Arguably she was a factor to Carter's bare win.

To be fair, Betty Ford probably could've gone far and probably would've had an excellent base to start with. Arguably she was a factor to Carter's bare win.

The only post-Eleanor Roosevelt and pre-Hillary First Lady I could see as seriously entering politics is Rosalynn Carter,

Darn, I saw there was a thread on this board about Michelle Obama and I thought it might be something else, but this confirms what we all basically knew. Politicians' spouses, children, and other relatives enter politics far less often than people think.
