One more reason why I hate book reviews. I could quote any book completely out-of-context and make it sound very overblown and confusing.

I think what he is trying to get at is that a good amount of women have gotten so wrapped up in their career that their time for their family has been greatly scaled back. That's obviously a problem. Again, I don't think he's going against the idea of a working mother, in general. I think he's going after the problems that have come about in the case of some working mothers.
But I'm sure a lot of people would jump to conclusions and call him sexist and anti-working mothers.

Exactly why the extreme-right is to be feared.

An ultra-liberal America: gay marriage and marijuana

An ultra-conservative America: totalitarianism based on the moral views of it's leaders
You forgot no guns, rampant crime, socialism, communism, possibly even fascism.

Much of the left doesn't favor new national gun laws.
Much of the right doesn't favour totalitarianism.

Yeah, they're just freedom lovers with totalitarian leanings.
Tell me. What can liberalism do for me that conservatism or centrism (don't know if that's an actual word) cannot?

It all depends on what you want done. The Democratic party has a much better record of creating jobs when they're in power.
Oh? What kinds of jobs? Roll Eyes

Personally, I'm a lucky bastard. At this rate, I probably won't ever have too many problems finding a job. Next?

If being liberal means caring about others, I would fit the stereotype of a Democrat more than a Republican. Nope, sorry, point not taken.

If by being a lucky bastard means that you have a lot of inside connections to getting a job, I suppose that the party of meritocracy can't do much for you.
I'm not very wealthy. I'm not white 'enough' to have any real advantage over pure whites. However, since I plan on becoming a teacher, I don't need inside connections when it comes to getting a job.

People tell me how nicely I would fit in the party of the disadvantaged, but I don't bite. I'll remain blissfully Independent for now, thank you very much.

A teacher? So you mean you'll survive on taxpayer dollars, teaching kids some things that their parents might not want them to know?
What parent of a college student would become offended at mathematics, pray tell me?

Wait, you mean to tell me that you want to become a professor and you can't figure out how liberalism can help you? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, you totally fell for my setup. Nice.

I don't care about what liberalism can do for me; I was being sarcastic when I asked what it could do for me. I love seeing people defend their ideologies.

So you'd rather just take all of the benefits of liberalism without supporting it?
Why should I support 'benefits' when I don't even know or care what these presumably nonexistent 'benefits' are? If you think there are so many 'benefits', feel free to list them all right now while I finish my lunch. I'll gladly take a nice, long time too, so you can fervently prepare a list and defend your ideologies against someone who expresses near-complete apathy about it. You've been doing a really great job of entertaining me during my meal, though. I have to give you credit for that.

(Hmm, cookies or pie? Roll Eyes)

By the way, you don't really have to continue this.
