You heard me.  It's still Trump vs. Clinton, but Ron Paul gets nominated instead of Gary Johnson, and Evan McMullin stays out.

Discuss with maps, the final totals, and what you think the demographic breakdown (age, gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.) would be like.

While Ron Paul would probably get the same amount Gary Johnson will get in the end (~3%), this year in particular wouldn't be right for him. Paul is 81, is much more "radical" than Johnson, is extremely ideological, and while having a sizable and devoted following, simply couldn't attract the type of voters that are turned off by Trump.

Keep in mind, Rick Wilson and co. flirted with Johnson before abandoning him to launch the Evan McMullin charade. Paul would never attract those people's support to begin with, and they'd oppose Ron Paul as Trump's Libertarian rival as much as they'd oppose him if he were the GOP nominee in place of Trump somehow.

I think Paul could have gotten 3-5% of the vote in 2012 as a Libertarian certainly, but he'd also be permanently vilified (and Rand tarnished, even though his campaign was a joke anyway as I found out this year the hard way) and unable to accomplish much long term.

Ron Paul might've made the debates.

Yeah, and so could have Weld. He also would have had a better chance of keeping McMullin out.
