In modern politics? Yes. On par with George Wallace and Storm Thurmond.

wallace was deplorable but at least he had experience. Trump is not only a raging haemorrhoid, he is totally inexperienced in running a government.

Certainly out of the two major parties in the modern era, anyway.

From a major party, it's hard to imagine worse.  From any party?  No, there has been much worse.

Even if a legions of cockroaches were running, it would have been an infinitely more appealing ticket than the current Trump ticket.

Quite possibly the worst of the post-WWII era with the exception of George Wallace, but I imagine that a large percentage would have answered 'yes' to the same question about Romney in October 2012. Presentism is a very powerful thing.

I opposed Romney in '12, but I did not think he was a fascist, a sociopath or a sex offender. Neither did Romney (or McCain, Bush or Dole for that matter) make me want to vomit whenever I saw his face. I think the hatred of Trump is much more visceral and emotional than anything else. You either love him, when you are a Putinist or a white supremacist, or you hate him, IMO.

I can imagine even an open defender of slavery like Breckenridge being a nice enough bloke in person. Trump, however, is simply amoral.

Nope. Back in 2012, I thought that Mitt Romney was at least not as bad as George W. Bush, even though he was worse than John McCain. Donald Trump is worse than Bush though.

Romney was someone you could make fun of and ridicule, Trump is downright appalling.

Internationally the most disgusting  personality is Putin. As a foreigner I can't take the liberty to judge  about US nationals.

Yes he is.

He will remain this way unless Kanye West runs in 2020.

Don't forget stupid and suffering under self-inflicted ignorance.

Many men who adopted reprehensible positions or committed despicable acts had some competence or talent for leadership. Trump's only talents are is in con-artistry and demagoguery. It's the same thing really: the ability to sell a line of BS.

He doesn't understand much, and has zero interest in learning. One thing that disappointed me about the debates and press coverage is that in the last year, no one has given Trump a snap quiz on anything, nor held his feet to the fire for dodging simple questions he doesn't know the answer to. I'm not saying he needs to be a geopolitical expert, but does anyone think Trump can even name more than one nation bordering the South China Sea? Does he even know which continent Uzbekistan is on?

His Dunning-Kruger and surrounding himself with yes-men is why he really does make me think of Hitler as an equivalent.

Noone is forgetting Mitt Romney for God's sake. Romney is basically a Clinton light, though a little bit to the right for obvious reasons, while Trump is Hitler light. Now go choose your picking.

Indeed, and they may very well say the same of the Republican candidate in 2020, or at least say "second worse".

Is he worse, than, say, Breckenridge (a literal traitor)? I don't know.

Trump is more Milosevic light than Hitler light, Hitler light would be the current Philippine President.

No. Jackson was still patriotic, for example his threat to crush nullification. He was also far more honorable in his personal life.

Jackson committed genocide. He is worse than anyone that hasn't committed genocide by default.
