If it's raining in the upper peninsula on Tuesday, the voter might stay home.

So the weather favors the Democrats. At least one thing has managed to go in the right direction these days.

Well, not much to discuses here. I guess we won't be able to blame to the weather for whatever the result is.

Good to see that the weather probably won't keep too many people home. It's apparently going to be rainy here, but that's not an issue, since everyone votes by mail. Smiley

close enough.  Not bad for November.

Tomorrow:  Sunny, 10% chance of rain, high 75°F.  Global climate change?  I'll take it.

Maybe Democrats could invest a few million in cloud seeding over heavily Republican areas and saturate them with rain on election day!

If the weather is too nice, it could deter voters who choose to instead engage in outdoor activities (though obviously such people are not that committed to begin with).

Have there been any studies done on the effects of weather on voting? Clearly natural disasters have an effect as witnessed by lower turnout in the NYC metro area post Sandy in 2012, but I doubt anything short of a blizzard would have an effect otherwise.

Historically, the Democratic vote in a state could be depressed by 1-2% if there is bad weather. LBJ even cut a TV ad encouraging Democrats to vote mentioning bad weather as a potential deterrent

The current forecast isn't looking as good, as ER said Michigan and Ohio look to get hit with rain among other places.

Chance of precipitation:

Detroit: 20% until about 1PM where it jumps to 60% and stays there until 6 PM where it's around 30%.
Grand Rapids: 50% until 1 PM where it falls to around 20%.
Cleveland: 0-20% until 4 PM where it jumps up to around 60-70%. Cincinnati and Columbus are about the same.
