This cycle has certainly shown how crappy the Electoral College continues to be.

I wonder if he'll vote Bernie/Gabbard.

lol ok...

Faithless elector laws have never been legally challenged because they were never used to decide an election. I doubt an election could be turned because of them

Wow. What a self-righteous douche. What a smack in the face to the 52% of Washingtonians - a group disproportionately composed of women and minorities - who voted for Clinton in the primary.

I believe that is is illegal in Washington, but legal in many other states.

Yeah, I checked it on Wiki and Washington has "laws against faitless electors"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faithless_elector#/media/File:Faithless_elector_states.svg - this is the list in case more electors make such statements

Doesn't matter. He'll be removed within the day, as has happened to the 3 others who have said they will not honor the results.

Sanders can join other Senators like John Edwards and Lloyd Bentsen who have gotten an electoral vote for President.

This situation would be a Clinton win, which instead would be thrown to the House:

Clinton 269
Trump 268

Something ironic about a Bernie Bro elector defying the popular vote in his state.

This is why electors need to be eliminated entirely and just award electoral points instead, if we're not going to completely get rid of it.

He'll almost certainly vote Clinton if it's 270-268. Otherwise who cares.

Obviously the Electoral College should be abolished and this guy should be replaced if it's possible, but I don't think there's even a 0.1% chance this guy rips victory away from Hillary.

Thankfully the faithless elector laws in Washington would prevent this (though I am sure Trump would consider those to be "rigging" the election as well....).

I still think there'll be more faithless electors on the Republican side than the Democratic side.  Particularly if Trump loses but refuses to concede, and sparks a GOP civil war over whether to mount some kind of legal challenge to the results.  Many GOP elites would then turn on Trump, and you could see some electoral college defections.

If this would decide the election to 269-268-1, would the GOP House just accept Clinton or would they go on and vote for Trump?

48% of Washington Democrats wanted Bernie, is it too much to ask for one, just one elector, 8% of the total electors, to represent their voices?  That seems pretty fair to me, unless you think their voices do not deserve to be heard.

Read in Bernie's voice.

Didn't WA delegates go to Sanders because he won the caucus handily? The primaries were just a formalities IIRC and no delegates were awarded based on that

The House would probably deadlock, and whoever the Senate elects as VP would become president.

What happened in the primary/caucus is hardly relevant to the GE. Clinton is going to easily win WA, and if he's not going to respect the will of the people of Washington, he should find someone else to take his place.
