Despite the fact that I think Perry is largely incapable of running a federal agency, I am happy Trump didn't choose Joe Manchin for the post. Democrats need him to run for reelection to hold onto that Senate seat. I'm hoping Heitkamp doesn't accept a position either.

I don't necessarily hate a SoE Rick Perry relative to other Republican options, but my god, any reasonable statesman should be embarrassed to hire a guy to the department he forgot the name of when he was trying to get rid of it. But we now live in the era of ehh f it who cares presidents

If you think these agencies have way too much power, you want people who oppose giving them more power or even who support getting rid of them.  That's why I like picks like this one and Pruitt for the EPA.
