Flynn wouldn't get past the Senate with his issues. The others seem likely.

Flynn is ineligible for the Pentagon. As provided by law, you have to be out of active duty for seven years (I think it’s seven). Unless the law is changed, he can’t even be nominated.

Moved this thread here from the 2016 board because I figure Trump administration stuff is now US Gen Discussion, rather than election stuff per se.

Uh... Palin and Carson should be near the top of the list because of their qualifications, not because of their demographics.

So, the reason wjy there were no women or blacks on the Nixon cabinet is because there were no qualified women or blacks available?

Here's the speculated short list for every Cabinet position, as compiled by the NYT:

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/us/politics/donald-trump-administration.html

Anyone want to try predicting who'll be chosen for each job?

Most of these are poison pills meant to put the fear of God into the Senate. Trump can confirm anyone he wants if the alternate is Ben Carson at HHS.

A waiver was granted to George C. Marshall in 1950 but that was because we in an actual full scale war at the time and Marshall was pretty universally respected.  No way a waiver is granted right now. Flynn could be National Security Advisor or Secretary of State (the same rule is why Powell was never considered for this post) but until August 21, 2021, he's ineligible to be Secretary  of Defense. The rule used to be ten years, and maybe it could get cut back further to five, which would have the side effect of letting Trump name him to be Secretary of Defense at the start of a second term, if he wins one.

If Trump really wants to reach out to Hillary's supporters (especially the feminists) he could do worse than nominate Michelle Flournoy as Defense Secretary.

"Qualifications" meaning willingness to kiss up to President-elect Pussygrabber.

Khalilzad, Pawlenty, Hadley, and Giuliani are the ones I like most of the top four. Brewer, Grady, Hamm, Chuck Conner, Sid Miller, Eisenberg, DiMicco, Lipnic, Connaughton, Evers, Miller, Clarke, McCaul, Holmstead, Grenell, Hoekstra, Rogers, Townsend, and Flynn all seem okay.

Bolton, Gingrich, and Corker are the names I hear most often for Secretary of State, but Zalmay Khalilzad would be a very interesting direction for Trump to head down, and I could see him doing that considering the obvious problems with all three of the common suggestions (excessive neoconservatism, an excessive desire to be higher-profile than the Trump, and Corker's various insider trading issues).

Khalilzad would be a terrific choice if it isn't Corker. Or he could go the Romney route and tap Zoellick

So now that Bannon panic is over, who is next? Are you going to start freaking out about Voting Rights Czar Kris Kobach or something now or are your imagines shot and you are too tired to come up with something else to be afraid of?

being afraid of ryan's agenda is good enough for me.

imho bannon would have been a bigger net plus for Dems anyway. that guy hates "sunlight" aka close attention.
