WEEI radio in Boston and the NY Post are reporting that PEOTUS is considering former MLB manager Bobby Valentine as Ambassador to Japan.

This is actually not a terrible pick, much like Branstad. Valentine managed in Japan and speaks the language. Plus he apparently knows Abe

And he didn't get the job because of his last name, like our current ambassador to Japan did.  Although I'm sure she did a serviceable job.

Like I said unthread, a decent pick. Could have done much worse

I hope Heitkamp doesn't take the job.  We can't afford to lose a Senate seat.

By the way, how competitive is McMorris-Rogers' district?

Deceptively competitive. GOP will be hard to unlodge, but Spokane is more liberal than reputation suggests and the Dem bench isn't terrible. It'll depend on who runs to replace. If Baumgardner, unlikely to lose but it would improve Dem odds in his Senate district

Tillerson is a great pick to fire up the Democratic base.

A millionaire CEO of one of the largest multinational oil and gas corporations in the US?

The angry flurry of outraged facebook posts practically write themselves.

Follow up, Giuliani removed himself:

Maggie Haberman ‏@maggieNYT  9m9 minutes ago
GIULIANI removed his name from consideration for sec of state, per Trump official, on Nov. 29. Story tk

Trump on Rudy's withdrawal from SecState race: "as appropriate I'll call upon him for advice. can see important place for him at later date"

Looks like we're now between Romney and Tillerson.

85% chance Romney gets it, but I Could see Huntsman still as contender if he wants to Humiliate Romney. I don't see how Tillerson fits as SOS

Now Giuliani has apparently withdrawn from taking ANY cabinet position.

Considering early on he was talking as if he was offered a job, this is just bizarre.

Yeah. If nothing else he'll probably be a better Ambassador to Japan than he was a Red Sox manager.
