Are there any democrats that could make up for the inevitable Mccain, Graham no votes.

Possibly Heitkamp for Tillerson.

NBC is the only outlet reporting that Tillerson is Trump's pick.

Could they be wrong? Please be wrong.

Heidi Heitkamp is the front runner for Agriculture.

I doubt Andrea Mitchell's reporting is wrong, but since they're not announcing it until next week he could change his mind possibly, like with the VP pick.

Well, we won't go in war against Russia then.

Nope. Iran, or maybe Venezuela.  Also a chance of some sort of intervention in Mexico short of outright war.

So, a cabinet filled entirely with Billionaires/Millionaires, Generals and random congressmen. Zero professionals or people with governing experience. Great.

This is the single dumbest post I've read in all my years on Atlas

Why? He has no former Governors or mayors leading departments, and almost no professionals who actually have real experience with their departments.

I am hopeful there are enough republicans to block Tillerson and Bolton. McCain and Grahm are probably no votes, and then hopefully Corker and Collins.

If anything, he'll just double down on Tillerson.

I can't imagine Tillerson getting confirmed with Graham and McCain being anti-Russian hawks.

Heitkamp is a good woman. She is a centrist. A centrist Democrat. She's just like John Breaux, who almost was in Bush 43's Cabinet, and Republican Judd Gregg, who was almost in Obama's Cabinet. She may see that she may lose reelection in 2018 regardless, but she may want to serve the country.

Heitkamp would make a great Secretary of Agriculture. And I'm not saying this because I want Republicans to pick up the seat, she has government experience, a good personality, the ability to work across party lines, and knowledge in that area to serve this great country well. Here, Politico says she tops Trump's list, and she's up to 76 cents on PredictIt, well ahead of Rick Perry, in second at 5 cents.

Yeah, at this hour, I don't see any other news outlets reporting this independently.  Will wait for another news outlet to confirm it before jumping to conclusions.

Heitkamp would be great, but its just one more lost seat in the senate. She's gone in 2 years anyway, but thats still 2 years...

Honestly, I think that Heitkamp is in a decent position for re-election if she doesn't get a position in the Cabinet. She did survive 2012, afterall. (I likewise think the same for Tester.) She's not as doomed as McCaskill or Donnelly. If she gets a Seat, though, kiss her seat goodbye, Dems.

Hopefully this CIA news prevents a Tillerson nomination. I never thought I'd be rooting so hard for Romney.
Romney would be terrible. Trump made clear with the recent Taiwan phone call business that he will be conducting his foreign policy to a significant extent himself and using the medium of social media as a tool as he has in the election. for that reason its important to avoid sending out mixed messages that would confuse things. Picking a SoS who is not on the same wavelength as Trump on foreign policy. If not Tillerson then who?

She survived 2012 by 3,000 votes, in a very favorable dem year.

She won't be re-elected.

The anti-Russian hysteria really seems to have gone into overdrive today. You know they're not the Soviet Union anymore (maybe that's the problem for the libs)

There's a big difference between an administration that would seek a more amenable relationship with Russia and an administration that's going to maintain a complete state of denial about Russian cyberattacks against our country.

Its now also being reported by Gotnews.com, who are a pretty good source, that the announcement of Tillerson will happen on Tuesday

But the problem is that they are. Maybe not in ideology, but it can't be denied that Putin is very dangerous and definitely has very high ambitions for his country. This should be treaded carefully- while not igniting a conflict is important, you can't just let him devour American allies and do whatever he desires with independent countries like Ukraine. That's why Trump's picks are worrying.
