Ironic Trump picked Betsy Voss to run the Education department considering she's for Common Core

On top of that, she runs charter schools that rely on vouchers, is heir to the Amway fortune, and her brother owns Blackwater

Jesus Christ

Forgot to mention she's a Creationist....think about it...a creationist is going to run the Education Department
It's about time.

Yup, gotta keep the sheep dumb... it's the only way to ensure future Republican victories.

I think this is unique to the mainland U.S. Even in Puerto Rico with its highly religious community, nobody believes such hogwash. The science is pretty straightforward on this. It's sad that creationists feel their worldview is so weak that they must deny science (read: reality) to give it some glimmer of strength. It's entirely fine to accept settled scientific facts, while being religious. It just boggles me.

Source on the creationist claim? Don't see it mentioned on any of the articles about this pick.

Either way, I'm opposed to a pro-common core rick santorum supporter as education secretary: http://www.insidephilanthropy.com/home/2016/3/1/school-choice-but-much-more-making-sense-of-devos-family-phi.html

Her  husband supported the "teach the controversy" 10 years ago, that's all I could find about it

She's a member of the hush-hush Council for National Policy. It's basically the wingnut, fake-Christian right's answer to the Council on Foreign Relations.

Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway are also members. (According to the leaked list the Southern Poverty Law Center released from 2014.)

Be very, very afraid my fellow Americans. We've got a stupid, volatile madman in the White House and his major influences are the nuttiest of right-wingnuts and a handful of the scummier members of the billionaire class that he's buddies with.

She wants CommonCore state by state, not federally. It is completely different to modify it state by state.

Yeah, it's pretty sad that something like 40% of Americans are full-fledged YECers, when many arguments collapse without much effort.

 - God days are the same as human days - No. See Psalm 90 and 2 Peter 3.

- Adjectives define length of a day - Nope. First, Second etc. Don't define length, they simply define something starting. Morning and Evening simply define beginning and end of one of the six creation periods. Also see Hosea 6 for another set of days that could plausibly be longer than 24 hours.

- God created the world in a deceptive matter to "test" people - Hebrews 6 tells us god cannot lie.

- Radiometric dating is unreliable due to the great flood - You do not need radiometric dating to prove an old earth. Pressure Waves from the sun, recession speed of the moon combined with evidence of the moon being 25% closer to the earth in the past, star mass, star rotation, and star distance from the earth are all alternative methods to prove an old universe and therefore prove an old earth.

Giuliani is likely in trouble because, in addition to all his personal failings, the right-wingnuts who appear to dominate the upcoming Puggygrabber administration really dislike his stance on abortion.

Romney is not exactly a foreign policy/diplomacy star - remember his disastrous trip abroad during the 2012 Olympics? Remember when Obama flogged him in the foreign policy debate? Also he called Russia our #1 geopolitical foe, which strongly conflicts with Trump's plan to have good relations with Russia.

Trump wouldn't pick Romney because of his skills or because he agrees with him, he would pick Romney merely to make peace with the Republican establishment.

thanks, morden, i should have more specifically asked for a successful bid of such a candidate (i guess accepting the ambassadorship from obama even harmed his candidacy) but i agree now that it would be possible.

Well there was former UN Ambassador George Herbert Walker Bush in 1988 if you're looking for a successful former ambassador. ^^
Yeah, but he was also a former Congressman, CIA Director, Ambassador to China, and Vice President Tongue

True enough, but Haley will have been Governor for six years as well so it's not as if UN Ambassador will be her first important post and I think he original question was whether somebody had made a come-back from holding a position as ambassador to become president afterwards.

Rohrabacher talks to Breitbart News, and says he'd accept the Secretary of State job if offered:

Because she's on team faux-religious whackjob, and Romney isn't? She, like Bannon, is doubtless trying to stuff the whole cabinet with members of their pretended-Christian cult.

New York City Councilman Joe Borelli (R-Staten Island) is looking for a job in the Trump administration after delivering the Island to Trump overwhelmingly. Congressman Dan Donovan may get a judgeship or a Cabinet position after winning a second term.

I don't think that follows. The furthest out of these people don't give a sh**t about abortion except as a means of demographic manipulation (id est eugenics), and the relatively more reasonable ones don't give a sh**t about it at all.

There have been way too many conservative Christian fellow-travelers and useful idiots involved in all this for comfort but they aren't by and large the drivers of the Trump phenomenon.

Remember that, until around 2007 or so, it was considered an act of treason to criticize Giuliani. Slimy bastard may well get the post but thank god he ran in 2008 and displayed his vileness for all to see.
