I really like you as a poster and don't particularly like cabinets being stuffed with office holders, so you've given me a reason to oppose this. I'm sure Mark McClellan or Tevi Troy or something can administer the Department better.

Elaine Chao will, amazingly, be the SECOND person to have been Sec of Labor, Sec of Transportation and married to Senate majority leader

Heh. Good example of Trump's sense of humor.

I think Kushner also favored Pence over Christie, so he seems to be voice within the Trump camp pushing for more traditional Republican voices.

i think christie would be a "traditional" candidate without his baggage.

but in this case kushner is clearly a voice of reason.

though even without bridgegate it would be hard to see what another loud-mouthed northeasterner without ties to Hill republicans would bring to the ticket

This should test the push of Kushner.

What's the deal with Commerce and HUD?  On Commerce, the WaPo said last week that two sources inside the transition team said that Ross was the pick.  But then...no announcement.  And with HUD, the AP reported that Trump offered it to Carson.  Then Carson made a Facebook post last week that all but stated he would take the job, but still no announcement.

If people like Chao, McCaul, Mattie and Romney are tapped for big roles I'd be... less concerned about this being anything other than a more incompetent Generic R
