Who ever our nominee is, they can't be taking anything for granted, can't have any of the taints that kept Clinton as an unacceptable option to many, and can't be a panderer to the powers that seek to undermine the democratic coalition. Find me a candidate like this, and you will have the next president.

I misread the title, but I was originally going to say Michelle Obama.

Kamala Harris would be incredible. A former prosecutor and state AG would take away the "Democrats hate police" narrative, and the fact that she's black would really turn out the minority vote. Elizabeth Warren as the VP would excite the base and get them out.

O'Malley/Gabbard.

Webb would be my preferred candidate but he has a -72% chance of running for anything ever again.

It's too early to say. It's always better to pick candidates later, during the middle years of the opposition presidential term, than in panic and trauma right after a horrific loss. Otherwise Evan Bayh would have been the Democratic nominee in 2008.

I think Gabbard would be a formidable candidate and the right person to break that glass ceiling. Hopefully she chooses someone like Sherrod Brown to be veep.

She's a hack

What about Tammy Duckworth? Depending on her record in the upcoming Senate, I think she could do quite well against Trump.

With people like Jim Webb: For every one WWC midwesterner you convince to switch back to Democrats, 2 young/minority voters stay home.

This will sound like dumb liberal fantasy but my answer: Stephen Colbert

I am envisioning a progressive-blue dog coalition. I wouldn't necessarily put Webb or any of the conservadema at the top of the ticket, but I'd certainly pair them up with a progressive darling.

Some back of the woods populist with left-wing rhetoric, and more appeal to poor whites and working class. Perceived to be a friend of the common man and not elitist and anti-rural. More moderate, rhetorically on social issues, though basically the same but disavows identity politics, into a much more class-based politics, and shys away from BLM to a message of social unity, and equality between all, less focused on protecting illegals and more about stopping illegal immigration but supporting immigration reform, and more understanding of the concerns of immigration, while valuing immigrants contributions to society.

Like Jim Webb?

It was made clear that he was thought to be out of place, unfortunately. Maybe that attitude will shift with the latest election results, but I am not sure he even feels that attached to the party anymore.

In all fairness, 40% of the people in this country are white-working class voters. Any party who writes them off is committing electoral suicide.

If Tulsi were to run, she would have the entire Sanders wing of the party and his voters behind her. She'd probably also garner his endorsement.

I'm not saying that Tulsi is who I want to win, but I think she'd be a pretty formidable opponent. She was quick to see that Clinton was a sinking ship.
