Why are progressives worried about this so much? Party Chair is basically meaningless unless they're completely incompetent.

1) Bernie Sanders has invested a lot of political capital in the race
2) It would be a sign of accommodation from the establishment and a good-will gesture towards working together to defeat Trump
3) Chair is actually pretty important, and the funding decisions that are going to need to be made in the next two years are going to be important.

Alan Dershowitz threatens to quit the Democratic Party if Keith Ellison is elected DNC Chair.  Despite this, I still would prefer Tom Perez over Keith Ellison.

Why should anybody care about what that old f--k has to say?

Yes, Dershowitz wrote something about how Ellison defended some anti Jewish Muslim as a lawyer.  This from a lawyer who was one of the murderer O.J Simpson's 'dream team.'

Dershowitz position are becoming closer to Netenyahu and the ZOA. So I expected him to leave a while ago.

Chuck Schumer endorses Keith Ellison.

Well, I'd be torn on who to vote for now if I had a vote.  Have to disagree with Howard Dean here.

Honestly.  The fewer people like him in the party, the better.

When Dershowitz first commented that he might leave the Democratic Party it was over the vote at the United Nations that Barack Obama refused to condemn, and Dershowitz claimed at the time that he felt betrayed because his endorsement of Obama back in 2008 was the reason 'millions of Jewish Americans felt secure in voting for Obama.'

Dershowitz either has an enormous ego or he's simply delusional.

Such a weak accusation. 3 of the 10 sitting Senators who endorsed Ellison are Jewish.

If the establishment had put up Buttigieg, it would be just as bad.

This is totally unconfirmed and uncomfirmable, but I hear from a friend that there's a rumor going around Atlanta that Perez has been inflating his whip count.

But like, take that with more grains of salt than you normally would from a biased stranger on the internet with no links to back him up.

^ This is by secret ballot. People can tell you they're voting for you, but there's always the possibility they'll backstab you at the actual moment they have to cast their vote. I wouldn't put any real stock in "whip counts".

My preference is Buttigieg, but honestly, #ANYONEBUTELLISON

1) yes I know it's secret ballot
2) yeah, but it would look so bad in there if he goes in and only draws 170 votes instead of the 180 he swore he had. Like, the consequences of that would likely doom him. You only release whip counts in this scenario if you're super sure of every single one. So... *if* this rumor is true I just don't understand the logic.

Everyone inflates their whip count imo

I would not mind any of the three front-runners, to be honest.

DNC folks say they expect about 45 minutes between each ballot and announcing its result. (They need to count and verify proxy ballots.)

Watching CSPAN and they are showing Pelosi at a Health Care Law Forum in San Francisco, so that's one voter not in attendance at the DNC.
