Okay, I am no longer worried. Perez did what HRC never did: he extended an olive branch to the other wing of the party the first chance he got.

He lost, fair and square.  Cry me a river.

There is nothing fair and square about this smoke-filled room of party hacks. They represent nothing but themselves. And they're soon going to learn it the hard way when real Democrats start turning out to vote.

Deputy Chair or Co-Chair? Is there a real difference?

I wish Perez and Ellison the best. I'm pretty confident they'll do just fine in moving the party in a direction that is needed.

Damn.

Ah well. I'm really glad Ellison got as many votes as he did and that they're not completely shafting him. Kudos to Chairman Perez.

I'm just glad it's finally over

Good luck to Perez. He'll do a great job.

HRC did do that, but whatever. Anyways, it's a symbolic move, but this whole thing is in nature, so good showing by Perez and Ellison.

Seems like the few usual subjects are pissed, even after the huge olive branch.  Sad.  Hope all the adults, who most of this party is made of can move forward and take on the real enemy. Good luck to the both of them.

Very. The differences between Perez and Ellison could be as I understand drawn on a needle head. Its organizational strength I wonder about more.

I have just as much of a stake in the future of this country as you do.

FWIW, the Democratic elite and base are pretty aligned, far more than the Republicans on the elite/base axis, so this isn't a huge radical rejection or something.

My frustration isn't about Perez or the proxy war, it's that Ellison would have been really really good at the job

Looks like Ellison is co-chair but why do you say that? Reince Priebus should be the model for any chair btw.

Also first Latino DNC chair right?

I was hyped for Keith because he showed a strong organisational talent in his congressional elections. (also yes Perez is the first Latino DNC Chair)

Seeing the two, Perez and Ellison, come together is awesome though

The "real" democrats already turned out to vote last year, and they rejected Bernie's far left ideology big time.  I guess only the white liberals are real Democrats!

I fear if Ellison had gotten the chair the Republicans would have turned an actual black Muslim into a boogeyman from day one.

I'm more mad because now the Bernie people will be acting all mad (see the other posts in this thread) than the fact that it's Perez. He seems like a decent guy, but the Bernie or Bust idiots are going to wreck havoc because they're acting like Trump five year olds.

It's deputy chair, not Co Chair. And Deputies are totally normal, DWS had like 6 of them.

That's not an olive branch. This is the Establishment saying "this is OUR party, here, have a candy and f**k off". No one is getting fooled.

An olive branch means absolutely nothing. But please delude yourselves, we'll need the full eight years.

I appreciate the olive branch, but I think this was the wrong move for the Democratic Party.
