About being unelectable . If Republicans were willing to " return home" for a man as scandal ridden as Trump on the grounds of "not Hillary", I do not understand why they would care about some unorthodox views as long as he had an R by his name?

No, Ron Paul supporters should be ashamed of themselves.

This is a false equivalency. It's like saying that the GOP owes David Duke an apology for writing him off. Just because he's crazy doesn't mean he's the same kind of crazy.

If anything, Paul owes everyone an apology for promoting INFOWARS culture.

The difference is Ron Paul doesn't represent the Republican party at all, Trump does.

LOL no. Ron Paul is no Donald Trump. And his policies would have been devastatingly unpopular. If anything, the last couple years have shown how shallow the Ron Paul movement was, and how little commitment there was to his economic ideas.

It seems in retrospect that Mitt Romney was in fact the least electable of the entire 2012 Republican field (except for Huntsman).

Oddly enough, I remember a lot of Atlas Democrat posters stating that the ticket they most feared was a Santorum-Huntsman ticket, but we all agreed that even if such a ticket was nominated that Santorum would not put aside his extreme theocratic views to focus on the economy.

Ron Paul's ideology does very little to address the needs of the Trumpists. This election was as much a repudiation of the free-market-above-all right as it was anything else.

He'd destroy Hillary on foreign policy, and a decent number of Berniebros would support him.

You're honestly deluded. There was a reason in why trump won and being like Ron Paul in not one.

Pretty obvious that the glorious American hero Herman Cain would have won a similar electoral vote to Trump, as would have Gingrich. Huntsman would have gone down in a landslide not seen since 1984, which would have been lovely to see - the smiles on the faces of media know-it-alls would have swiftly disappeared.

Yeah, I'm sure all the Midwestern Trump voters hoping he'll "Make America Great Again" and bring back lost jobs would have gone for Paul's libertarian message.

I wouldn't underestimate the simplicity of the American voters. Especially after this election, why would you want to make any declarative statements.

No Ron Paul's brand of ideology would have won, I realised since like July 2015, that trump could've won and would've been a better candidate than others. Ron Paul would not have won many areas that trump won, to propell him to victory, neither would Cruz.

By constantly spreading doubt about the mainstream media, Ron Paul has in fact helped promote a culture in which Trumpism could flourish. Paul owes America an apology.

Trump barely won against a candidate under FBI investigation.  Anyone remotely competent could have done better than him.

I might add to that Trump didn't even win the popular vote.

I doubt that as many Republicans would have lined up behind Ron Paul. He's not really a middle finger to urbanites, liberals, and millennials, which is what this election was all about.
