This place has become so toxic.

Chelsea may want to run for office and people already calling her corrupt. Jesus Christ!

I guess no one cares about George P. Bush huh.

Let Chelsea run if she wants to. It's not like the Democratic Party establishment has any credibility left with voters. Well, outside of rich liberal neighborhoods.

If the Clintons are smart, they would stay out of politics for a few years.

She was conducting an investigation of the Foundation, and Band and Podesta were upset that she wasn't being secretive enough about it, so they threw some accusations her way. Sounds like payback for her demanding accountability.

Chelsea Clinton has never, as far as I know, shown an interest in public life, except on the campaign trail for her parents.

But if she does run, I think she will be in for a rough ride.

But she will have a big campaign fund, after all, she has already been given $600,000 from Sleazy Bill and Crooked Hillary from the Pay For Play Clinton Foundation.

And maybe even the corporate fat cats at Goldman Sachs and Wall Street will want to pay another Clinton $225,000 for a speech.

Liz Cheney and George P Bush aren't reasons to elect Chelsea.

Well it would confirm the Democratic Party's transition to the Indian National Congress.

I'd prefer someone else, but if she runs and wins, I won't be too broken up.

Trump won the Presidency, yet people are still harping about the Clintons. If Chelsea Clinton wants to run for Congress, let her. It wouldn't hurt anyone in the least bit.

A damn rapist is the President of this country and you all are complaining about one person running for a single House seat? Give me a damn break. Trump has his children on his transition team, that's what you all need to worry about.

Who is or is not on Trump's transition team is not something worth caring about. Also this:

Unless Democrats think Chelsea will cost them a House seat, or Republicans think she would be an unusually effective House member for the Democratic agenda (and it seems that neither is the case), I don't understand why anyone is so upset over this.

Incidentally, if Trump is not very popular, I could see Chelsea getting very far using buyer's remorse.

The whole dynastic mentality isn't something desirable in a democracy.

Honestly, I'd really like Chelsea to prove first she's not just bearer of a famous name. A f**king name does not entitle her to anything. If this election teaches us anything it's the failure of entitlement mentality.

it's sure that this forum being composed by only white males doesn't help.

I take personal offense.

I don't remember you being so vocally hostile of Joe Kennedy running for congress in 2012.
What distinguishes them? One is a man, the other is a woman.

The vocally hatred towards her is quite disturbing to me.

OK, so you're accusing me of sexism.

Maybe I've missed Kennedy, but I remember being rather vocal about the whole presidential dynasty mentality, whether regarding sons or daughters.

Ok it probably doesn't apply to you,
But yes, I seriously believe there is a quite big problem with misogyny on this board. There are some candidates who have faced many many unwarranted attacks during the last cycle, I'm thinking of Mcginty, Duckworth regarding their "political skills" who were so extreme that it was full of misoginy, in the end Mcginty didn't win badly and Duckworth won easily.

I seriously believe that had Chelsea been a man, there wouldn't be 2 pages in less than 24 hour of "dear god don't run"

Yeah, this identity politics over everything else is why the Democrats lost. Chelsea's white male husband would also be terrible.

Nobody's denying sexism is a serious problem, but what I also fear is that we use it to keep ignoring all other important factors.

The main difference between women like Elizabeth Warren, Tammy Duckworth and Kamala Harris or and Chelsea is very simple: the former didn't have the "my daddy was President" advantage. ANd yes, this applied to men too (haven't we all seen GWB?)

I agree with you.
It's not the fact that people oppose her because she's the daughter of the Clintons, it is all the massive overreaction about a potential run by her. Kennedy didn't have a dedicated thread when he decided to run in 2012, same for George P Bush in 2012 etc etc
