48 hours to declare for Speaker of the Chamber of Delegates. (It's funny how I'm already Dean after such a short time here Tongue)

I nominate Leinad, myself. I think I've been a fairly good Speaker considering my inexperience with the role, and I certainly have a proven record of activity (the Speaker going inactive is a sure way to send the regional government into inactivity as well).

Fidel Castro memorial act:

Given the recent death of Fidel Castro, AND

Given the great number of Cuban ex-pats that reside within the south who have their families currently divided AND

Given the democratic mandate of both the Chamber of Delegates and the current congress of Atlasia AND

Given the terrible deprivations suffered by the Cuban people under 50 years of communism AND

Given the desire to increase the overall economy and trade within the south AND

Given longstanding interests in the island for the people of Atlasia, AND

Given the current presence of military bases on the island AND

Given the current movement of Puerto Rico to become another great state of the Union.

Be it resolved that:

The Chamber of Delegates supports the initiation of hostilities against the remnants of the Castro regime including but not limited to Raul Castro.

Constitutional Carry Act

Given that - the state of Vermont has permitted permitless carry since the Revolutionary war AND

Given that - said state has one of the lowest homicide rates AND

Given that CCD holders generally have very low rates of homicide, well below that of the general population AND

Given that every man and woman should have the right to employ the method of self-defense of their choosing AND

Given that many dictatorial regimes have sought to deprive their people of their arms:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Chamber of Delegates will permit carrying a firearm without a permit throughout the South.

I Co-Sponsor, and look forward to the region having a conversation on this when it hits the Chamber floor.

Given that the United States prior to 1913 had greater income growth AND

Given the prosperity of the States of Texas, and Florida which do not have an income tax AND

Given that we the people should keep as much of their earnings as possible

Elimination of the Death Tax:

Given that - assets earned in one's life have already been taxed AND

Given that - families have many expenses on the death of a family member AND

Given that - trusts exist to shield the assets of those wealthy enough to employ them AND

Given that - estate planning should concentrate on the desires of the individual,

Be it resolved that

The death tax in the south is abolished. Upon the death of an individual, all assets will be transferred to their next of kin or as directed within the will.

Southern Right to Work Act.

Given that - States across the south have passed right to work in their economies, every southern state now has it.

Given that - the South has made considerable employments and industry gains over the rest of the country.

Given that - allowing workers to set their own wages is better for both the employee and the employer.

Given that - we don't want to become like Detroit.

Be it resolved that:

All labor unions are henceforth voluntary. Employers cannot require an employee to join a union in order to maintain employment. This includes employees in the public and private sectors.

Labor unions may not withdraw funds from paychecks before they are deposited. Any employee currently belonging to a labor union may withdraw at any time by submitting a letter of intent. Labor unions found violating any of the provisions will be fined 7 years back dues for every instance. For example, should an employee have dues withdrawn from their bank account without their authorization, they would be fined the total of that employee's dues paid over the last 7 years.

Alright, I'm swearing-in as Senator, but that doesn't seem to stop me from being Speaker, too.

Should the Delegates object to me being Speaker, I'll gladly step aside. But I feel we need a 100% active Speaker who will send PMs (I know I'll be able to do that) and out of curiosity I'd like to see what it would look like to have a Speaker who isn't part of the Chamber.

Thoughts?
