Hopefully not. It would be nice to get the White House back before 2025.

Life expectancy is pretty good if you have the means and genes.

It would mean his VP choice is very important, like McCain's was. But as long as he avoids the Democratic Sarah Palin it wouldn't be a big issue.

How well he'd do against Trump's dirty tactics in a GE is a whole other story.

It would happen with a President Bernie Sanders! Hopefully the Democrats learn from their mistakes and not nominate someone who's not appealing to Midwestern people (Newsom, Cuomo, etc)

Sure, why not? He would have won this year.

I guess people assume he'll be too old. Go watch a Ron Paul 2008 debate performance and then a 2012 Ron Paul debate performance. Age matters a lot at that point.

Weird. Six months ago this guy was my sworn enemy but if he's going to support a progressive candidate in 2020 we are solid allies, solid as titanium. A toast to the great H.A. Goodman.

I might support him. If he releases detailed policy plans on par with what HRC offered, reaches out to minority communties, and doesn't hire a crybaby as his campaign manager then he'll have my support.  But I'll be shopping around for alternatives

This is a major concern of mine. In four years Bernie will be 79 (which is the US life expectancy). We need someone who represents a new generation and the new Democratic Party, not just one.

But if he does get the nomination, he'd better pick a good VP. It will be important.

Personally, I don't think he should run due to age. It's a damn shame he isn't 10 years younger. That being said, he should be the de facto face of the Democratic Party for the time being. Let him be the caretaker until the torch is passed.

This.

For some reason, both parties nominated olds.  I frankly questioned how likely it was that either candidate to survive this terms (and I liked Pence more than Kaine).

When my father was my age, he was roughly the same age as the incumbent President.  In this election, both candidates were old enough to be my parents (though Hillary would have been a teenage mother).

79 year youngs don't win elections. And Bernie couldn't even defeat a very flawed candidate.

To be fair, he could never overcome the delegate lead she got out of the south, because blacks voted as a block for Hillary and there was nothing he could do to win them over. Without a Clinton to run against he could do well with the black community.

Who is the Democratic equivalent of Sarah Palin exactly?

Describing Clinton as "a very flawed candidate" within the confines of the Democratic primary is really a tad of a stretch.

Also, Goodman is wrong about everything, so RIP. Cry
