Boston Globe Great Mentioner: Setti Warren, Kennedy, Moulton, Clark, Joe Avellone & Dan Wolf. Count me extremely skeptical anyone from Congress will wanna be a sacrificial lamb.

I think this race could be more competitive now that Trump is going to be President, but it's also possible that Baker will sail through like some Republican governors did in 2006. I think if Baker loses popularity we'll see someone high-profile like Moulton or Kennedy run; if he stays popular, we'll get a sacrificial lamb.

Healey ruled out a run a while back, but she could obviously change her mind.

Baker was all in for Question 2 and it went down hard I think the shine is starting to wear off.

If we could somehow get one of the oldster congresscritters to run that would be great, regardless of if they win the seat or not. Steve Lynch? Mike Capuano? Richard Neal? Jim McGovern? It's time for new blood on the congressional bench so I hope one of these guys run if this proves to be a "sacrificial lamb" situation.

I've heard Setti Warren is the most serious candidate, though Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll is also a possibility. Also Dan Wolf, as has been said.

Marty Walsh and Daniel F. Conley are two "Boston candidates" not mentioned.

I doubt any of them want to end their career on such an embarrassing note, although I'd be happy if we got rid of Lynch and Neal (the former because he's so moderate, and the latter because I would love to have a competitive primary in my district for a change). I hope McGovern and Capuano stay in Congress.

Lynch isn't really as moderate as he comes across.

I mean, who is, right??  Except for liberal Democrats from "red states" who are barely right of center on some token cultural issue, they're DINOs!

"Liberal Democrat who's barely right of center on a few token cultural issues" is a pretty good description of Lynch, actually.

Haha, I don't know anything about Lynch, I'll be honest.

I just always found it funny when some red avatars would say that Susan Collins is a secret right-winger who pays lip service to cultural liberals but Mark Pryor is some useless DINO ... not necessarily saying either can't be right, but they're literally like mirror images of one another on the opposite side of the spectrum, so pick one! The idea that Stephen Lynch is a moderate charade is getting ridiculous. He voted against Obama care from the left, calling strongly for a universal healthcare system based upon public option, which all these socially liberal pro-abortion very much progressives congressman did not. He visited Cuba in 2002, and met with Castro, one of only 5 congressmen to do so. He's also very left wing in regards to labor unions, and strongly opposes RTW, statewide in any state or nationwide. "In response to a budget crisis in the state's nursing homes, due primarily to Medicaid shortfalls, he filed an unsuccessful bill in April 2001 to increase Medicaid funding by $200 million". I could go on, but do I need to go on, but let's let the abortion lobby and Lena Dunham's define what left wing is and let's keep on losing elections!

Stephen Lynch could beat Baker if Trump does damage to the Republican Party's brand by 2018, but Lynch could be a good vice presidential contender in 2020.

Oh God please not Kim, I don't like that lady, she's really annoying and has been a pretty bad mayor for Salem.

Actually reading up on Lynch he doesn't seem that bad. I guess in my mind I exaggerated how moderate he is because he was running against Markey.

Wait, he voted for that anti-refugee bill. Never mind.

I've watched one video of this Kim Driscoll and I already can't stand her... Someone as uncharismatic as her would lose in an earthslide to Baker.
