Say despite being the age of 79, Bernie makes another run and wins the democratic nomination. Who wins?

Because that's totally what happened to Carter after Ford discredited conservatism but still lost, clearly the country just needed liberalism, so WHY would someone more conservative than Ford have a chance?

Oh wait.

Not only win Sanders win OH, PA, WI, MI, IW, AZ, GA, FL, IN, NC - I think Texas could also be in play.

Sanders is a working man's champion finding against an obnoxious billionaire climate change denier whose economic policy is set to benefit the very rich!

Lmao, sad sad Sanders delusion right here.  He wasn't even able to win the Democratic primary.  It would be Nixon 1972 all over again.

If urban millennials are angry enough in 2020, he'll have a real shot.

Reagan didn't win '76, he got the exact same percentage as Sanders actually.

We all know what happened next.

And no, nothing's gonna be Nixon '72, we're too polarized for that. This election, where the EV isn't even 100 different and where the PV could well rival Tilden vs Hayes in gap, is proof of that.

Assuming Trump isn't an unpopular failure and his approvals are normal.

I really don't see how a 79 year old socialist can appeal to the rural and working class Midwesterners better than Trump, unless of course the economy tanks or something. And I think Bernie would drive away many of the wealthier suburban whites, and Trump may get McCain '08 levels of Hispanic support.

That's...quite the assumption to make.

If this election was Sanders vs Trump I have it 319-218 for Sanders with the only difference being Virginia going to Trump

It could be a landslide for either, considering how many unknowns a Trump presidency contains.

The median scenario would look something like this:

EV: 279-259 Sanders
PV: 49-47 Sanders

The problem is that Sanders is only thirty years younger than Reagan, and it's been forty years since 1976.

What is "IW"? And Texas wouldn't be in play. State's like Ohio and Pennsylvania, though, would be ripe for a return to the Dem column with a Sanders candidacy.

I was typing fast - IA!
