They always seem to say "Luv u !" to their kids.

About a 1000 times a day.

Or is this only among younger US parents ? Did previous generations of parents also use it on a daily basis ? What are your experiences with this ?

I have never heard a European parent say to their kid: "I love you." or "Luv u." (every child here knows that their parents love them, no need to tell them 5.000 times a day ...)

My parents always told me they loved me, as did my grandparents. maybe it's just an American thing?
I never knew that parents in other countries didn't tell their kids they loved them as commonly as we do, though.

Please do not blindly apply Austrian customs to the rest of Europe.

OK. But is this thing common in Poland or not ? I guess not.

I know this is common in Singapore and Thailand, two countries I've visited.

Parents often say "Love you" or "I love you" to their kids especially in America, but I have never once heard an American parent say "Luv u !"

Also, probably only about 100 times a day. Not 1,000 or 5,000.

And I'm about 99.99% sure there is some European culture that does this same practice.

This is compensated later on in European's life though, because they get 5 weeks of paid vacation and other social goodies, whereas Americans only get 2 weeks of vacation and no maternal leave, leaving them constantly stressed throughout the year and paranoid, which further means arming themselves and killing each other or taking drugs (leading to 100.000 deaths each year) ...

Strangely enough I can't recall my parents ever saying "I love you" to me lol. Might explain why I've read Atlas Shrugged Tongue. They did tell me how proud they were of me thousands and thousands of times though, and I never got in a serious fight with them Smiley.

Alrighty, we know Europe is better than America.

Also, I can attest that only two weeks of vacation does not lead Americans to arm themselves.

I mean, Europe is better. Look at all of this:

Anyway, let's get back to European parents, most of whom also are superior to American parents Smiley.

Europe is great, and I love going there. My point is that this thread seems to be all about "look at Americans, they're so stupid, and look at Europeans, they're heaven on Earth." Tongue

My parents tell me this sort of stuff so often, to the point where it gets actually annoying.

My dad's not one for emotions. I can count on one hand the times he's either given me a hug or told me he loved me. But I like it that way.

Yeah it's not something that's common in Asian cultures. Hence why I never remember my parents saying "I love you" to me. (And thank goodness - it would've been so cringey...)

European parents just don't want to become too emotionally invested in their children, since at any moment, said children could be abducted by Krampus.

Hitler actually loved his mother very much. In fact, I remember that Hitler gave the Jewish doctor who tried to save his mother's life Honorary Aryan status.

The banality of evil, anyone?

The lack of self-awareness as to the irony of this statement is beyond belief.
