On the contrary, Donald J. TRUMP is (as was pointed out elsewhere) returning the party to its Northern roots. But thanks!

Sometime this afternoon, it hit me that the RINO Donald J. Trump will be most likely be representing my party this fall.  And, it means that true Reagan conservatives will be without a candidate this year and maybe without a party going forward.  Donald Trump is at odds with each of the three-prongs of conservatism that I spend every day of my life fighting for.  He is pro-choice, masquerading as pro-life, and supports gay marriage, making him not a social conservative.  He's no free marketer, as he is absurdly protectionist and opposes free trade.  And, finally, he does not see the necessity of military intervention to keep us safe.

It is not too late to stop Donald Trump, and I thought after last night's debate that Rubio would almost certainly be the man to do that.  However, Christie and LePage's endorsements show that the RNC is not going to do its most basic job- to ensure that a true conservative represents the greatest party on Earth this November.  If the party gets its act together in time to save Rubio in Florida, all hope is not lost, but today shows me that that will not happen.

If the Supreme Court were not on the line, I would cast a protest vote for the Constitution Party's nominee, but I will begrudgingly vote for Trump in November as long as he maintains a pro-life position in the general election to keep a chance for conservative values on the Supreme Court and because he is not Hillary Clinton or an avowed socialist.

Now, I am a man of my word, so, if it keeps going like this for another week or two, I will follow through on my promise and leave for the summer and fall, until Election Day.  I just hope that this primary does not signify a permanent shift in the Republican Party from conservatism to nationalist populism.  But, I seriously worry that it does and that George W. Bush will go down as the last conservative President, even if Donald Trump beats Hillary Clinton, which I think he will.

I forgot just how anti-Trump I was in the primary.  I guess excitement of the campaign and beating Hillary is just the medicine the doctor ordered.  I have written off his trade position, but if he betrays conservatives on other issues, he could easily lose my support.  I have to hope he will remain true to what he says he will do!

Also, my GE prediction from February was right...
