Still surprised the Democrats didn't think a former Marine/astronaut widely regarded as a national hero was their best bet against Reagan in '84
Never underestimate the stupidity of liberals.

Warning, I have a #hottake coming up: I don't think astronauts are not on the same level as military heroes. Fortunately for Glenn, he was a war hero long before he became famous for his NASA stuff. But assuming he was just merely an astronaut, I wouldn't put him on some pedestal.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Survived by his wife of seventy-three years. That's almost more impressive than his life in the public eye, really.

To be fair, before John Glenn's famous orbit, 50% of all Saturn rockets blew up on the platform. Those early astronauts were numerous risks and uncertainties that modern day astronauts don't have to deal with.

Yet another reason to say, in the words of John Oliver, "f*** you, 2016."

RIP, FF.
