He was on the shortlist for HRC's VP Pick but didn't make it.

If the anti establishment sentiment dies down in 2020, he is a centrist democrat who could be a handful. He did work in Bain capital which might be a negative.

He also would have not won an election in 10 years by 2020, which the same length of time as Hillary in 2016.

Unless he's the only major black candidate running (which actually is a real possibility), if he runs, he'll be a non-factor.

You don't think Booker will run?

If Stephen F. Lynch or Michael Capuano runs for Governor, Patrick lives in a town of 27,000 people(Milton). Milton is mostly Lynch's district(about 7/10 precincts*). However, Patrick could just move into the district of whichever one of them runs for Governor if he doesn't live in their district.

Ugh please no

Please no

It's important to note also that being black does not automatically get you the black vote in Democratic primaries.

I can't help but feel Patrick has a lot of skeletons in his closet.

This. He did some good things as Massachusetts governor, but he may have a lot of skeletons. I see him as a vice presidential contender for a Southerner or a Westener, or for ethnic diversity.

Patrick being a Bain Capital guy means he'll be a nonstarter. At best he'd be a VP or Cabinet choice, but since the Democrats are going in a more anti-establishment, anti-Wall Street direction, working at Mitt Romney's company is not a great idea.

Same reason why I think Booker's potential bid will not be as runaway successful as some think.
