The Democratic party should not be looking for the next Obama. They should be looking for an authentic candidate that fits the voter's values the best without pandering to corporations. The new candidate should also be in touch with the younger community, which is where the party's strength lies, and should NOT alienate whole swaths of the United States.

Another Obama is not needed. What is needed, is another good candidate who is connected with the people.

This is kind of like Republicans looking for the new Reagan.

There isn't one anymore than there was another Bill Clinton in 2001. Let's look ahead instead of back.

If the 2008 primaries had been as rigged as the 2016 ones, there wouldn't have been a President Obama.

Truest statement I've seen in awhile.

There isn't going to be another Obama. We just need someone with charisma, progressive policies, and a way of talking to people. If our base gets too angry, though, we'll end up with a Democratic version of Trump.

So that'd be generic D with charisma.

Better yet get someone with Sanders positions with Obama's charisma and ability.

No. Dems need to search for the next FDR instead. What's the perfect counter to the right-wing cabinet Trump's assembling? A left-wing candidate. Someone young, progressive, with potential heavy backing.

In my eyes, if Joe Kennedy does indeed succeed Elizabeth Warren, or even runs and loses for Governor in 2018, he could be a strong candidate. The other one that springs to mind is Tulsi Gabbard.

We'll find the next Obama as soon as the Republicans find the next Reagan.
