Young. AA. non-ideological. "Potential" to deliver strong speeches. Charismatic.

This is the correct answer.

Personally, he has limited appeal to me because he is a right-wing corporate shill.

he can motivate urban voters to come out to vote.
When republicans have 60% of the white vote, then the democrats are already at 40%.
The democrats need at least 11% of minority voter turnout.

Great speaker and very charismatic. That being said, still very shady Wall Street credentials. Maybe a good VP.

Watching the documentary "Street Fight" made me want to like Cory Booker.

Also he saved people from a fire once.

He's the former Mayor of Newark, and he's the current junior Senator from NJ.  As NJ is one of the most corrupt states in America (for Dems and GOP alike), I would dread him on my national ticket due to what shoes may drop.

He's the politician from central casting; and I just don't have any strong feelings towards him.

Booker has a reputation for being clean, at least by New Jersey standards, and for having strong character and belief in what he's doing. The problem is that his actual views are too 'finance capitalism with socially liberal characteristics'.

He really does give a strong speech-- his DNC speech was pretty good. His in person speaking is good as well.

Identity politics is the fundamental building block of the Democratic coalition. Cory Booker should be appealing to black people and the under 45s. Therefore, there will be elites and operatives who want to see him run.

To be a hypocrite there isn't any concrete policy differences he has with Progressives (bar potentially financial reform)

Actually, he's a pretty cool person. I might consider voting for him in 2020 should he run.

See the problem with that is that financial reforms and getting money out of politics is almost solely what Progressies want. Democrats will be more left in 2020 and less corporate owned thats for sure.

I agree with this - his DNC speech was great, but I wouldn't willingly elect a New Jersey politician to national office unless their name was Richard Codey.

Booker has received a 95% and a 90% rating from the Americans for Democratic Action. So hardly a conservative. He's certainly charismatic and has a great life story (including the fact that he's been a Mayor, which most national figures haven't been).
