From reading this thread, it appears that his biggest impact will be to eliminate rational discussion from political discourse from the left.

Any political discussion with a leftist seems to necessarily begin with the leftist throwing out some obligatory name-calling.

But the OP is totally an Independent and moderate, guys!

Let's not be "politically correct" now.
Let's call him out for the piece of crap that he is.
There is no such thing as having a "rational discussion" with scum of the Earth such as Hitler, David Duke, Jeff Sessions and the orange-haired clown.
Why should we be "rational" about individuals who exhibit bigotry, racism and sexist views ? (Yet alone someone who has groped multiple women.)

If the 4 liberal justices can hold on for 4 years and with liberal use of the filibuster, hopefully nothing long term.

Which is why the GOP should nuke the filibuster.

Signing anything that Paul Ryan gets through would be pretty destructive.

> turn Medicaid into a block-grant program that will lead to major cuts at the state-level (ironically this will hurt many rural Trump voters)

> repeal the unpopular parts of Obamacare that make the popular parts work (could lead to further regulatory problems after the industry settled into them)

> convert Medicare into a voucher program for future generations that will screw us over

> his "infrastructure plan" is basically just ~$140 billion of tax deductions for projects that are probably already under construction, and somehow this will lead to $1 trillion of new investment?

> his general tax reform plan is pretty insane overall. Even a watered-down version would provide no solutions to pressing issues, and in fact create or worsen current problems. The reduced marginal tax brackets would favor the upper middle class and rich, while elimination of credits would actually raise taxable income or reduce refunds that go to the middle class or working poor. Structuring a childcare benefit as a deduction rather than a credit would skew in favor of the wealthiest and not actually help low-income people, who need it the most. Little growth would result from these, but the deficit would balloon, just as it did 2001 - 2007.

> general cuts to social programs and government departments and redirecting this to more defense spending (which is already pretty high, and often is spent on things the military doesn't even want, but provides manufacturing jobs in certain political districts).

> literally anything regarding the environment, I don't think this needs explaining

> general incompetence and total lack of knowledge about foreign relations. One thing that Hillary understood as First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State is that personal relationships are extremely important in negotiating for something we want. She regularly used her personal skills to get hostages/prisoners released or to get adversaries on our side. Trump apparently has no solid personal relationships with many foreign diplomats, and his short temper and only experience with aggressive business negotiations does not translate into diplomatic negotiations.
