Good luck convincing the kind of folks who included Hyde repeal in the platform that a pro-life candidate is a good idea. Personally I love the idea but the Democratic Party has strayed so far left on social issues...
The DNC snubbing Bob Casey, Sr. in 1992 was the beginning of the end for pro-life Dems.

Anti-choice is a deal breaker.

Yeah, JBE would definitely destroy Trump in a general election. The problem is that then JBE would be President.

I could see him doing really well in the South during the primaries, but aside from that I don't think he has much of a chance outside the primary. He could easily defeat Trump, though.

Maybe not for me, but certainly for the party. I like him, and I hope he runs LA really well and begins to rebuild the party into a statewide, competitive apparatus. I just really don't think he has a chance to win a national democratic primary.

It's a deal breaker for me personally AND a deal breaker for the primary.

If Edwards adopts a Biden/Kaine-esque "Personally opposed, but won't force my morals on women" position, and swears to protect Roe and Planned Parenthood, then I might come around.

Edit: Being pro-gun is another issue.

As opposed to being anti gun?

Edit: Not trying to incite, but the left has a major language issue, as you have just exemplified.

Unless of course you really are for a total gun ban, in which case I apologize for my assumption.

I think he's a perfectly good Governor of Louisiana, but he's not my ideal President by a longshot. I am aware that your political views are different from mine and therefore you'll disagree.

The base wants gun control, as do I. I realize it's not a winning issue, and rural Dems are smart to chase NRA endorsements, but it's an absolute must for a Democratic nominee.

What? No it's not. I'd prefer our nominee not mention gun regulation at all, or only mention background checks. I had to cringe every time HRC passionately inserted that vote losing talking point into a speech or debate.

I'm not saying the nominee should make gun control the focus of their campaign. Like I said, it's a losing issue in most of America.

Yeah, he's my top choice for 2020.

Miles, you know - no pro-life politician will be Democratic candidate for President. Otherwise he could be my too, despite me being pro-choice....
