Anybody interested in going, alphabetically, through every district in the House to disuses their history, politics, geography and trends? I would be quite interested to see people discuss the areas they know most well, especially those areas ignored due to not being swingy.
Alabama's 1st district is based in the SW of the state, and is anchored by the city of Mobile and its surroundings. One of the more prosperous and fast growing areas of the state, with a healthy manufacturing sector; this was one of the first areas in the state to trend to the GOP, electing conservative anti-busing Republican Jack Edwards during the 1964 sweep. All the incumbents have had very long terms with very little distinction. The current incumbent, Bradley Byrne is an Alabama moderate (he was accused of not supporting creationism enough when he ran for governor). So yes, any maps or fun people know about this area?
