I would probably just use the simpler broad term "other", but this works.

Why exactly does the government care about your gender in the first place? I can understand why they'd care about your sex, but why would they care about which norms/mores/whatever-gender-means-now-days you identify with enough to have a "legal gender identification?"

There is sometimes backlash in Oregon when SJWs do something stupid like this or picking a fight with a Christian bakery.  Let's watch this in 2018.

Because Transgenderism and gender dysphoria are real things, and people shouldn't be forced to choose between male and female on any govt. Document that asks for their gender.

Well unless you are intersexed and one sex was never selected and you lived your whole life kind of in between I dont see the point. But whatever floats your boat, not that big a deal however pointless it may be.

I'm all for being inclusive, but chuck in an "Other" option, or this list is going to get mighty long.

I hope to see other states follow this path soon as well. While there may be two sexes (although hermaphroditism does exist, albeit is incredibly rare), there can be an endless number of genders. It's simply a social construct and should be recognized as such.

You're very optimistic about the economy if you think that a significant amount of people will view this as a huge, top priority in 2018.

This is very reminiscent of the "I'm okay with gay people, I just don't want them to get married. Call it a 'domestic partnership' instead" argument.
