What if HRC had run her more "white working class" campaign a la 2008?

She probably would have won the MI primary, and held MI-WI-PA in the general, and won.

The irony is that Hillary 2016 (general) probably did worse among Hillary 08 counties than among Obama (primary) 08 counties.

Probably true. Also, the GE '16 precinct map in the county where I work (Oakland, MI) looks a lot like the Clinton-Sanders primary map, with Sanders precincts voting Trump.

2008 Hillary probably would have beaten Trump and kept PA, WI, MI and FL while Ohio and Iowa would have been closer.

She would not have won KY and probably not WV. AR is the only one where she polled consistently well, and even there McCain surged into the lead after he got the nomination.

Against Sanders? I highly doubt so.

Polls showed her ahead, and of course McCain surged after he got the nomination, Clinton would have done the same. With that she probably/could've lost IA, IN, CO, VA, and NC.

I think Sanders might have been able to pick up more of the Obama 2008 voters. If he didn't, I imagine someone like O'Malley would have gotten ahold of most of the Obama 2008/Clinton 2016 voters, at least those who weren't African-American.

There was one legit poll that showed her ahead in WV, and it was Survey USA. KY polls showed Conway and Grimes leading early on, come on. And the fact that McCain surged to 50% in AR as soon as he got the nomination showed where it was going to go that year, he didn't get anywhere near that kind of surge in other "swing" states.

Nah, I agree with Kingpoleon. 2008 Hillary would have been competing in the "same lane" as Sanders. He'd beat her at that game.

In fact, one could almost argue that Sanders is the reason it was impossible for us to have 2008 Hillary in the general election.

She still would have lost. The public perception of Hillary has been unchanged for decades, for example check this MadTV sketch from 2000.

eyeroll.

By that you mean, Sanders was the reason Hillary was more Hillary 08 than she would have otherwise been.

And to directly answer the question, Hillary 2008 stuck in cryofreeze for 8 years would have won simply due to not having the email scandal and benghazi.  it was a razor-thin election, after all.

While this is true, let's face it, Hillary 2008 was less complacent, and I highly doubt she would've been so against McCain.
