Opinion of Charlie Crist? The former Republican Governor of Florida is now a Democratic freshman in the House.

I say FF. Fine man, I hope he is able to climb to a higher office in the future like another senate or gubernatorial bid, a cabinet post or vice president.

RIP "Christ can't win another election ever" meme.

Truly, this year killed so many memes we cherished.

One of the biggest HPs in American politics. How can someone go from ardent Republican to ardent Dem in barely a decade?

He was a fine, if flawed, moderate Republican who was well-mannered. No wonder he went Democrat when the party turned angry.

Obviously Crist is the textbook definition of flip flopping goofy politician, but he never came off as a bad guy to me. At worst, he's a bit of a joke.

I think he was ideologically similar to Goldwater, the poster. I don't really think he really changed what he ever believed. In the 1980-2008 period, he would be considered a Moderate Republican through and through but now because of cycles of median regressions, he is now a Moderate Democrat.

FF - I know he has his flaws, but I always liked him, even when he was a Republican.

I have a soft spot for politicians who enjoy politics more than government and Crist is no exception, although I can't say I'm a big fan of his.

I doubt it that he'll give up his house seat after two years and try again as governor.

He would make a good running mate for Kamala Harris in 2020 though.

Voted FF since most here seem to have a psychotic grudge against "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" politicians for some reason.

Fact: dated my mom's cousin for two years in the 1980s. He never so much as kissed her.

Wonder what the odds are like that he will end up a Republican again before his career is finished.

How much backbone do you think he would have had if he would have won his primary...

Yeah, I've posted this reference like a thousand times. It's almost a motif when Crist comes up. She (my mother's cousin) was unfortunately being stalked by a psychotic ex at the time and he actually confronted Crist IIRC, which is part of the reason that they think the relationship failed.

This all comes from my Grandmother and her sisters. They are all extremely partisan Republicans (to the point that being a Republican to them is akin to them being of Scots-Irish descent) so who knows exactly what happened? I never seem to see the branch of the family involved here as much as the other cousins.
