Trumpism is now the default setting for your average Reublican. Most of the Republicans in congress are just holdouts from another era.

We will see in the coming months if the alt-right has replaced neoconservatism as the charismatic bleeding edge of Republican thought and policy.

I still stand by the theory that Trump could have campaigned as a loyal free trader and had the exact same results.  People wanted his attitude, brassness and outsider rhetoric.  The issues didn't matter, and his actual policy views won't carry over past his Presidency.  He's Teddy Roosevelt.
