Probably. He'll also probably cut off all military and foreign aid to Ukraine. What I wonder is how the True Leftist types who've been wanting to recognize said Russian annexation and rave about the Nazi coup government in Kiev will react.

I wonder how Trumpists react to when Putin finally stabs the Alt-Right Administration in the back. We already know the reaction from the Alt-Left.

The party of Reagan to the Party of Trump. From a man who stared down the Evil Empire to the man who bows to kiss President Putin's ring.

When did Republicans become so scared of the world that accomodation with Moscow and retreat from Syria into Fortress America outweigh the costs of muscular leadership?

If he does, it'll prove that he's too close to Putin. No US President should ever recognize such an act of aggression as legitimate.

Neville Chamberlain 2.0? Or how threats that his opponent would cause WW3 actually led to WW3?

It's just funny how the GOP coalition has suddenly begun emulating the 1960s and 1970s Democrats by being scared to venture out of America. The isolationism mantle is passing to the GOP and it's hilarious to watch. "THE BIG BAD RUSSIANS ARE COMING TO GET US!"

The Democrats, I think, btw, will become more internationalist and talk up Obama's foreign policy ideas more .

Russia is a rogue state.  We should all be very afraid of what they will do with Trump as President.

Crimea was land that was legitimately Russian up until it was split away and haphazardly assigned to Ukraine. The people of the Crimea did not wish to be governed by the NATO regime that resulted from the Euromaiden coup, nor was the original split of the Crimea from Russia legitimate. Putin stepped in and restored both Russia's rightful claim and the Crimean's right to have a government that works for them, not against them.

Sorry I haven't spent the entirety of my day answering your queries about a position I've upheld consistently since the start. In the future PM me if you're this interested.

"NATO Regime" and "Euromaiden coup"? Hah. That removes all credibility from your post.

Also, we don't actually know if enough Crimeans wanted to become Russian, because the Russians interfered with the vote and made it illegitimate.

Crimea was land that was legitimately Russian up until it was split away and haphazardly assigned to Ukraine.

How exactly was the decision to move Crimea from Russia to Ukraine in the 1950s not legitimate? If your argument is that any decision done by the Soviet Union was illegitimate, then I guess Russia should resign its permanent membership in the UN security council too, since that membership was given to the Soviet Union.

Oh yes, and Königsberg (Kaliningrad now) was legitimately German prior to the Soviets annexing it; when is Putin going to return it?

The history of Russia is a history of continuous imperialist conquest. If we were to go by the principle "to which people does this territory originally belong", Russia would lose much of its territory (including all of Siberia and the Far East where the Russians certainly are not indigenous).

for comparison:

this is like redrawing ALL of post-world war 2-frontiers cause they don't make sense or are "unfair". formula for long-term conflicts and war.
