Mark Kirk's fate is a preview of Rauner's, I think.

1) More Illinoisans know who Mike Madigan is than many out-of-staters here are estimating.

2) Rauner will probably lose in 2018, but I will leave it a toss up for now. I think Illinoisans are unimpressed with his cut-throat governance. Madigan operates similarly, but this is a Democratic state. Rauner has looked like a fool insisting that his agenda be implemented and allowing "non-essential" programs to waste away in the process. One Republican surrounded by Democrats isn't in a position to push his entire "Bring Back Illinois!" plan through the legislature.

Not sure yet, but the fact that the Trumpster will be in office doesn’t help Rauner. But it also depends on the Dem candidate. A dude like Quinn would probably lose again.

Dan Hynes would be the best nominee. And Kwame Raoul as Lt. Gov. That would be  a winning ticket.

I like Rauner, but I think he will lose. Forever sanctuary Mr. Illini? I support a pathway to citizenship, but sanctuary cities are a bad idea.

I second this. Who believes in obeying federal law enforcement orders?

I can not wait until a literal buffoon blanching Rauner puts to rest any notion that Illinois is a gop trending swing state.

It's literally just you repeating this over and over again.

Okay I will try to stop. Just a few people on Atlas said IL would trend R long term before.

I am literal obsessed with Chicago land and it all stems from a time when I read an article in Utah about the danger that state faced long term due to water and climate change and I did research on the safest major cities to live in.

I will try to stem the obsession a bit.

I could see that being a bit like PA in 2014. Unpopular incumbent gets maybe a bit closer than expected but state lean and immense unpopularity are too much even in a friendly year.

Alas, this is the exact opposite of a GOP friendly year.
