In a state as safe as Maryland, I thought Edwards might've been the better choice - but I have few complaints with Van Hollen.

FF, actually. The only Democratic Senator-elect I can be enthusiastic about. Fortunately they don't have many Smiley

The kind of Democrat you'll lose with against the President in four years.

I would've preferred Donna Edwards, but I can't complain overall. He should be a solid liberal vote, just as we should get out of a state like Maryland.

I've heard Donna Edwards grand-stands a lot, and is not very good with constituent services, so perhaps on those grounds, Van Hollen was the better choice.

Still, if I were a Democratic voter in Maryland, I would have voted for Edwards to add diversity to the Senate. Plus she has experience dealing with conservative Democrats.
