I have PERSONALLY experienced Xenophobia by people calling themselves "f[inks] Deplorables" On MULTIPLE occasions now.

Examples:

Getting told I was going to be deported for speaking to customers in Arabic to translate out menu items and then PHYSICALLY getting GRABBED while being screamed out AT MY JOB.

Getting called a sand n***** for wearing my Pro-Palestine shirt, being told that my family overseas is going to be "destroyed for being ISIS lovers (LOL)"

The WHITE nation will rise to kick us all out

How about you guys?

Yes, but not against minorities. It's the other way around.

To answer the question yeah.  I've been harassed by someone and I know several who have had things happen to them.  Nails put underneath tires, sh**t pull off their cars.  Things like that.

Eh, I've heard some mildly bigoted things said about Americans and/or Southerners. That's about it.

My friend in Tally just called to let me know he was walking past my unit and saw a crack in my window where the Trump sign is. Someone actually tried to put a brick or rock through it after all. He said it wasn't totally shattered but the crack was certainly noticeable. I'm too tired to be pissed, but I hope some of you are happy that the response to your hurt feelings was the destruction of my property.

I knew this would happen. I knew I should've taken the sign down while I was back home. I bet it was that same kid who lives in my building and was pounding on my window last week. Christ I've should've handled that then and there in hindsight but the police have literally never once actually helped me down here anyway.

Edit: Just got a picture, it's not as bad as I initially thought from his description. Still pissed though.

Some Clinton supporters do seem to feel free to call Trump supporters racist just because of who they chose to vote for.  Most of them are ignorant.  One I know compared Trump to George Wallace; he was a young know-it-all who wasn't alive when Wallace ran for President.  I was alive and cognizant for George Wallace.  I ran a series of Democratic Primaries (at the committee member level) against Wallace supporters in my home town.  (The local area leader was actually George Wallace's 1976 NY State Chairperson, and was on national news for that.)  They have no clue, but their mouths keep running.  Mike Pence pointed out that "This is what Freedom looks like and sounds like." and he's right, but Freedom can be annoying to even the most tolerant at times.

On the forum due almost entirely to Sanchez, yes.  In RL not yet, but folks within the Jewish community are getting pretty scared, at least where I live.  Making sure everyone's passport info is up to date just in case things get bad enough that it's no longer safe here, that sort of thing.

No.  My Hillary supporting friends just can't resist ruining a solid pregame, though.

Not personally, but I have had several female friends tell me they've noticed a marked increase in harassment in recent weeks.

Only against Sanchez on here, but it's all tall poppy syndrome.

The transformation of this forum from pre-election Democrats with signatures showing Hillary laughing and smiling, confidence, certainty, Hillary love-in sessions, Trump bashing....

to.....

Utter devastation. Forum members left. The Clinton win 'after party' was cancelled. Snowflakes melting. Therapy dogs brought in. Petals falling off left, right and centre. Trump bashing v 2.0.

Denial. Anger. Confusion.

And then Sanchez rising from the ashes to take over as ideological leader of the forums.

Probably the funniest thing i have witnessed online.

Love it.

Can't comment on Trump, but racism his increased in Germany since the AfD has become electorally successful. For instance, a colleague of mine who's of Turkish descent reported how very hard it had become for her to find a new appartment and that she never experienced such hostility like that before in her life.

^^ think it is important to this conversation to point out that rising majoritarian nationalism is on the rise globally, particularly in the West. The US is clearly not immune, but Trump is a symptom of a problem that is much bigger than just our election.

No, but I live in "fake America". I have heard some female friends of mine claim that they've encountered more guys hitting on them aggressively.

The folks in the Atlanta suburbs are much more vocal about their disdain for poor people. So, not xenophobia or racism. But certainly bigotry.

My best friend got a MAGA hat and I was concerned about his safety wearing it in public. Nobody's given him any trouble over it, though.

The day after the election a non-white friend of mine got knocked to the ground by an middle-aged white man shouting racial slurs at her. Middle of the day.

No, not personally or my nearer circle. But I’ve read in the newspapers that school yard bullying is up because of the Trumpster.

Personally?  No.  If you include homophobic slurs, then I'm sure it will happen again.  And judging from the past 5 incidents, it won't be from a white person.

I also can't say objectively if there has been an increase since the election, because Foucaulf has been compiling various reported incidents of xenophobia/racism and hate crimes, so I perceive an increase but that might not be the case.
