Trump played by the rules and won. He won in free and fair elections, and he won by the rules everyone understood to be the rules going into the election.
The rules don't say that there's a tiebreaker if the PV and EV are split, or that Electors are to use their "moral judgement" in the event of an EV winner with fewer PV. Trump played by the rules fairly and won.
No one complained when the 82-79 Mets won the pennant in the NLCS in 1973. No one complained when the under .500 Houston Rockets played the Boston Celtics in the 1980-81 NBA finals, and no one would have complained if there were an under .500 champion. The Presidency is more than sport, but it's still decided by a process with rules. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton knew these rules well. Trump did a better job with what he had to work with; that's why he's PEOTUS.
