At this point, I have to be perfectly honest and say yes (D). I wouldn't hesitate to take him back based on what we're facing now and I hated him so much when he was POTUS.

No. It's frightening how many leftists prefer the Neocons to the Trumpists.

This.

And let's remember Trump's GOP is a natural consequence of Bush's GOP.

Bush may have the better personality, but he probably was a more destructive president than Trump will be.

Yes. I don't like Clinton or Trump. I think they were both bad candidate.

Absolutely. I've said it before. I'm preparing as much as I can for what's going to come. It's the equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane coming your way and you can't move. This is going to be so much worse than any on the left can currently imagine. Based on who Trump is appointing, things are going to be far worse than anyone on the left can imagine. The coming Administration is going to be one of the worst nightmares for the left.

If anything, I'm seeing a disturbing amount of the opposite...

Yes, since about January '09

I recall a good number of concern trolling articles in 2015 about how Donald Trump was the best GOP candidate because of his trade stance and relatively liberal social attitudes on some issues Roll Eyes

I don't miss him, but I prefer him to Trump (in the same way that I prefer McDonald's to eating out of a dumpster). Bush was terrible on so many levels, but at least he cared about Americans on some level.

So, currently, a slim majority of Democrats and a lopsided majority of Republicans agree. On top my political disagreements with the him, I always thought Bush was tactless and incompetent. GWB looks like a true statesman in comparison now.

If it means I can go back to 2005 then yes.

I share that sentiment too.

Of course there will be an equivalent poll about Trump after the next GOP president is elected, probably with similar results. Again, presentism.

Absolutely not. I will say this: I think George W. Bush truly isn't a bad person. But I do think he was recklessly incompetent, ruled by his malevolent advisers (which show a significant deficit when it comes to making judgement calls on people), and outright aloof from the needs and concerns of the American people. I wouldn't want him back if we just elected Pol Pot's reanimated corpse.
