Lean HP, as Vietnam isn't 100% his legacy, though it is a dark cloud overshadowing a lot of his accomplishments as President.

Worthless HP as a person. The legacy of his administration is mixed, but leans FF as the only left wing administration of America to leave a substantial legacy post-FDR (assuming Obama will be written out of history by Ryan's team of Randian thugs)

Terrible person, terrible foreign policy, and pretty bad on everything besides civil rights, which was simply convenient for him rather than right.

FF. Still one of the best presidents despite Vietnam, whose administration and liberal policies left a large impact for decades.

This isn't really a clever statement. Dude, go read Evergreen's posts if you want to know how it's done.

I. love. this. man. He's been my political hero ever since I knew him. Huge FF.

Definitely one of the greatest presidents and highly underrated. Vietnam was a mistake from today's perspective, but at that time it looked different. However, no other president except FDR has passed that many and far-reaching reforms on civil rights, health care, education, poverty, environment and gun control. LBJ was one of the most efficient presidents ever; he knew how to get things done. Additionally, he was very complex and interesting man, who was raised in poverty and became the world's most powerful man. But he never forgot where he came from.

This. I also believe that LBJ was involved with or had knowledge of the Kennedy assassination so...yeah. HP.

His legacy is in danger. Trump and his pals want to undo everything LBJ fought for, like civil and voting rights, care for elders and children, education, etc.

Anyway, he's a very good example of someone who is BOTH a FF and a HP.

I don't like how he handled the Vietnam War, I'm a non-interventionist; but he did good things like passing Medicare and civil rights laws.

God-Awful, but muh social welfare, when he spends god how much on the military-industrial complex, which could better be used on alleviating poverty in US and around the world, and let us not forget the Vietnam, a god-awful US decision based upon protecting a colonial government, and how many millions died there.

Yuge FF domestically; HP foreignly .
It's a shame his legacy is smeared by Vietnam. He could have accomplished more if his presidency wasn't ruined by it. He knew the poor quite well, he knew how to help the poor, he knew how to help them in Washington. He was, to date, the last truly great president from my state, which has sent embarrassments like W into Oval Office.
He never forgot those from which he came. And the whole world should know his name...Lyndon Baines Johnson.
Great man. FF.
