Bustos was just not feeling the need to run for Ill. governor in 2018. Maybe in 2022 if Rauner wins a second term and runs for a third term.

More likely Durbin retires in 2020 to make way for her. She's commonly seen as his protege.

I see him running one or two more times. He looks like a Senate lifer to me.

Former Illinois Treasurer and 2010 Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias should run for governor. He's young, handsome and could win against Rauner.

That sounds like a perfect idea if the Democrats secretly want to lose.

What's wrong with Giannoulias? He only lost to Mark Kirk in a midterm of 2010--a GOP wave year.

Whoever wins the Illinois governorship in 2018, will have a difficult job. It's probably one of the toughest states to be a governor in America today.

It is going to be a nasty, bitter, expensive race that could see low turnout as the state is in such bad shape. Rauner, Quinn, and Blagojevich are partly to blame.

The only person who's benefitting from this is eventual Governor-designate Juliana Stratton, once Pritzker goes down the route of Blagojevich.

Is J.B. Pritzker corrupt like Blagojevich and Madigan?

Illinois Dems are the literal worst. The IL GOP aren't that much better. This state is everything people hate about third-world-style mobster politics.

You can say the same thing about New Jersey politics as well. NJ and IL has corrupt state politics. Sad.

Looking at the map alone, I would have said Rauner won by 25 points.

Agreed. He is underperforming significantly in Chicagoland. The days of the moderate suburbs Republicans are gone.

Moderate suburban Republicanism can still win, it depends on the circumstances. Affluent DuPage could be won by the right Republican.
