Because american presidents have all been capitalistic, so the right has no reason to dislike anyone of them. Let's not act like Saddam perused any right-wing policies, in the scheme of things, so let's not act like the right would like him. However the right, including Regan were fine with supporting fascist dictatorships around the world, including the Taliban for the pursuit of the free-market right-wing agenda.

Soviet Union committed genocide, killed over 70 million people in their brutal rule, had the ability to bring their evil ideology all across the world , and a war with them could result in the world getting destroyed.

By the way Afghanistan would never had the Tailban if the SOVIETS DIDNT INVADE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Before the soviets invaded the country was very western and not even close to being fundamentalist.
