I've a pretty clear vision in my head of what I want to happen and that was the first step. Do take into account that Walder now has some very valuable hostages. I don't think it was OOC, in my opinion. Slightly more ambitious, yes, but then again if the game played out the exact same way as the books did it would be very uninteresting.

You know what? You're probably right.

One can read Walder's betrayal in canon as a response to the insult, but that's not quite fair. Walder, I think, is above all a ruthless pragmatist willing to do almost everything, and it is noted by Catelyn and by sound men like Glover when Robb is at The Twins in AGOT that Walder could very well just take Robb prisioner to have a valuable hostage, which is sort of what he did here (although breaking guest right under a wedding is bound to have serious consecuences).

So in that sense and considering the valuable hostage he gained I wouldn't call it stupid or out of character. You can call it reckless in some levels, but it's not quite my duty as GM to prevent players from making such moves, and so I found no problem in allowing this to happen. Just saying it for clarification.

In any case, glad you're taking Catelyn!

Frey is playing a good game to be sure. He stands to gain favor with two kings rather than just a marriage alliance with a not-yet lord who's father proves he can be held with near impunity twice over.
