Why Kansas’ mini-Trump, who looks to be the state’s GOP nominee for governor, is going to be so hard for Democrats to beat in November.

To be fair, I think it's from a guest writer, not one of their employees.

I do wonder whether this idea has any merit. It is one essential question: Who is better to try and hang around the GOP nominee's neck - Brownback or Trump?

I mean, polling says otherwise. Colyer is near split even in favorables whereas Kobach is 20 something points underwater
Trump was a gazillion points underwater.  Hoo boy, President Hillary Clinton sure put him in his place!

Um, so was Hillary. LOL. They were both historically unpopular. She was just presumed to win because she was experienced with a resume and Trump was a doofus. But a doofus who convinced enough people Hillary was a corrupt shill and while she failed to convince enough people she would make peoples lives better in tangible ways.

Kansas also won’t be decided by Electoral College.

Full disclosure, I know this professor, but I think it's a smart piece and Democrats need to be careful moving forward. Colyer can be spun as another Brownback term, while Kobach requires a different strategy that might need nationalization, which is iffy in Kansas for Democrats.

I can't disagree with this. I don't want to underestimate Kobach, and I pity the Sunflower State if he wins.
