Two highly educated, cautious, qualified Baby Boomers who emerged on the national stage from the 1970s to onwards.

One, a former Tennessee centrist senator later turned two term vice president in a technology 1990s age who failed to seal the deal in 2000. A son of a well known Southern Democrat. He is a champion of climate change education, science.

A former activist of the Children Defense Fund, a lawyer from the Watergate era, married to one of the most charismatic presidents of American history. Turned first lady of Arkansas, First Lady of the United States, ran for Senate in New York and won in 2000 and 2006, and ran for president in 2008 and 2016 but could not seal the deal.

What went wrong for Al Gore and Hillary Clinton?

They weren't charismatic. That's all the American populace cares about.

Hillary was a poor candidate. Gore should have chosen Bob Graham, and done a better job with the recount.

Not the American populace. They both won on that count. It just happens to have been concentrated in different states. Once the count is finalized, Hillary will have won just about the same number of votes as President Obama did in 2012.

I'll share the view that Gore should've picked Graham. On a similar note, I think Hillary should have just doubled down and picked Biden.
